You just completed the theoretical driving test, and the first thing you do when leaving the center is check your emails. Nothing. Two hours later, still nothing. This uncertainty between the end of the exam and the online display of the driving test result generates quite a bit of stress, especially when you don’t know exactly where to look or how long to wait.

Driving Test Result: Email or Candidate Space, Which Source is Valid

After the test, your answers are electronically sent to the Ministry of the Interior for processing. You then receive an email from your exam operator (La Poste, Objectifcode, etc.).

What most candidates don’t realize is that the email received is only indicative. The official result is the one recorded in your file by the ministry, which can be consulted via the ANTS website (permisdeconduire.ants.gouv.fr) using your NEPH number.

Some accredited operators also display the result directly in your online candidate space. This channel may be updated before the email is sent. If you are in a hurry, this is often where the information appears first. To obtain your driving test result online, it is therefore useful to check both your inbox and your personal space on the operator’s platform.

Also, remember to check your spam: notification emails often end up in the junk folder, especially on Gmail and Outlook accounts.

Normal Timeframe for Posting the Driving Test Result

There is no fixed national hour for publishing results. The timeframe depends on the operator, the center, and sometimes the time of the test.

In most cases, the result arrives within 24 hours. Recent feedback shows that some candidates receive a notification as early as the evening of the test. The timeframe announced by the operators remains 24 to 48 hours.

Why this variation? The processing is electronic, but it passes through the servers of the Ministry of the Interior. A surge in test takers at the end of the week or a technical incident on the server side can delay publication by a few hours.

No Result After 48 Hours: Normal Delay or Administrative Blockage

You have waited a full two days without any notification. Before panicking, distinguish between two very different situations.

A Simple Processing Delay

Your result email may be delayed without any issue with your file. Common causes include:

  • The email address provided during registration contains a typo, or it is that of your driving school which received the notification on your behalf.
  • The exam operator is experiencing a seasonal peak in activity (June, September) which extends processing by a few hours.
  • Your email’s anti-spam filter has intercepted the message without you noticing.

A Real Administrative Blockage

After 72 hours without a result anywhere (neither email, nor candidate space, nor ANTS), the problem is likely administrative. It could be an inconsistency with your NEPH number, an incomplete registration file, or an identification issue at the ministry level.

Here are the concrete steps to follow in this case:

  • First, contact the accredited exam center where you took the test. Operators have direct access to the status of your test processing.
  • If the center confirms that the result has indeed been transmitted, check your ANTS file. Log in with your NEPH number and your FranceConnect credentials to see if the result is listed there.
  • If nothing appears on ANTS after 72 hours, submit a request via the messaging service on the permisdeconduire.ants.gouv.fr site, specifying your NEPH and the test date.
  • For candidates registered through a driving school, also contact your establishment: sometimes the third party receives the result first and must forward it to you.

Favorable Driving Test Result: What to Check Before Moving on to Driving

You have received a “favorable” mention. Before booking your first driving lesson or registering for the practical exam, check a point often overlooked.

The result must appear on your ANTS space for your driving school to register you for the license. An email from the operator is not always sufficient. As long as the ANTS file is not updated, your driving school cannot schedule the next steps.

The validity of the obtained driving test result starts from the validation date. You have several years to take the practical test, but it’s better not to delay: skills erode quickly without practice.

In Case of an Unfavorable Result

There is no limit on the number of attempts. Each new presentation for the exam incurs a fee (the rate is set by the operator). You can re-register as early as the next day if a spot is available.

Analyze the details of your mistakes before rescheduling a test. The result document mentions the topics where you lost points. Focus your revisions on these themes rather than retaking complete series.

The online driving test result is not mysterious once you know where to look and how long to wait. The only real alert is the complete absence of any trace after 72 hours across all channels (email, operator space, ANTS). Below this threshold, patience remains the best strategy.
